About Sir Paul Judge

Sir Paul has wide international experience in the commercial, public, political and not-for-profit sectors.
He is the Chairman of Schroder Income Growth Fund plc and a Director of ENRC plc, of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, of Standard Bank Group Ltd of Johannesburg, of Tempur-Pedic International Inc of Kentucky and of Abraaj Capital of Dubai.
His honorary offices include being an Alderman of the City of London and the President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and of the Association of MBAs, the Chairman of the British-North American Committee, of the North American Advisory Council at the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House, of the Enterprise Education Trust, of the Museum of Brands and of St Dunstan’s College and Deputy Chairman of the American Management Association based in New York
Following his education at Cambridge University and at the Wharton Business School, Sir Paul worked for Cadbury Schweppes and then led the buyout of their food interests to form Premier Brands which was successfully sold in 1989. He was subsequently Chairman of Food from Britain, Director General of the Conservative Party and a Ministerial Adviser at the Cabinet Office. He has more recently been Chairman of the Royal Society of Arts (2003-6), President of the Chartered Management Institute (2004-5), Master of the Worshipful Company of Marketors (2005-6), Chairman of Teachers TV (2005-8) and a Member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (2008-2010). He was the key benefactor of the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge.
Cadbury Schweppes
He spent the first thirteen years of his business career with Cadbury Schweppes, working initially in the Overseas Group finance department and becoming Group Deputy Finance Director in 1978 at the age of 28. He was then Managing Director of Cadbury Schweppes Kenya which had three factories and 600 employees. In 1982 he was appointed as Managing Director of Cadbury Typhoo, which had 3,000 employees and a turnover of £150 million. In 1984 he became Group Planning Director and a member of the Group Executive Committee.
Premier Brands
In 1985 he initiated and led the £97 million buyout of the UK, Irish and French food businesses of Cadbury Schweppes to form Premier Brands with 6,000 employees and a turnover of £400 million. The company was turned round and developed well, winning the 1989 Grocer/IFE Award as having "the best overall performance of any British food company". Premier Brands was successfully sold for £310 million in 1989.
He then moved into the public and political sectors and became a government-appointed Member of the Milk Marketing Board and Chairman of Food from Britain which led to his being voted the 1992 Food Industry Personality of the Year. He was Director General of the Conservative Party from 1992 to 1995 and then transferred to the Cabinet Office as a Ministerial Adviser, responsible for policy issues such as competitiveness, deregulation, privatisation and information technology strategy until just before the 1997 General Election.
UK Education Activities
In 1990 he gave £8 million to the University of Cambridge to found the Judge Business School where he chaired the Advisory Board for twelve years. He is widely involved in other educational activities and is the President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and of the Association of MBAs, the Chairman of the Enterprise Education Trust and of the Governors of St Dunstan's College, an Emeritus Trustee of The Cambridge Foundation and a Member of the Finance Committee of Trinity College, Cambridge. During 2006-7 he was Chairman of the City of London Lord Mayor’s Appeal and Chairman of the Lord Mayor’s “City of London – City of Learning” project and during 2005-8 he was Chairman of Teachers’ TV, He was a Member of the Board of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) from 2008-10.

He is currently Chairman of Schroder Income Growth Fund plc, a director of ENRC plc and of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). As well as his career with Cadbury Schweppes, Sir Paul has previously been a main board director of the Boddington Group plc, Grosvenor Development Capital plc, and WPP Group plc and a Member of the Advisory Board for Barclays Wealth (2002-10).
