FAQs

Anyone who joins OneLeap can get directly through to anyone else on OneLeap – but only if they’re prepared to put down a deposit. The requirement to “put your money where your mouth is” makes for better thought through messages, and eliminates time-wasters. Quite simply, it means that busy people can focus their attention on people who present mutual opportunities.

What happens to the deposit?

You choose. Return it if reading the message was a good use of your time. If not, send it to charity (half to your favourite charity, half to the sender’s). The deposit is refunded 100% if a message doesn’t receive a reply in 10 days.

What happens to the deposit?

We take a flat 20% on every message that receives a reply. We have to live!

How much is the deposit?

Each user sets their starting price, and the maximum number of messages they want to receive. Then the market takes over. Just like booking seats with an airline, as the number of messages available is used up, the price goes up.

What kind of response will I get?

Good messages get good responses. OneLeap guarantees a response, but what that response is depends on the quality of your message. It’s a bit like going to a conference and getting 5 minutes with the keynote speaker. They’ll give you their attention because you’ve made the effort to come. But you’ll only get their business card and a follow up meeting if you make it interesting for them!

What do the "V" symbols mean?

A blue "V" symbol next to a registered user indicates that OneLeap has taken reasonable steps to provide basic verification of that user's identity.

While OneLeap does not warrant or guarantee identity, this means we have taken reasonable steps to check a user is who he or she says they are. As OneLeap is currently still in preview, this might include personal contact, email matching or matching a user's details to those of a respected company website.

In addition, all users must agree in our terms and conditions to provide truthful and accurate profile information. As we further develop the site we will be enhancing our verification system, e.g. by enabling users to voluntarily submit information in order to gain a "V" badge. NB: Remember too that no user may profit personally from an unreturned deposit - all such deposits go to officially registered charities.

I want to be open to the best, but can you assure me I won’t be swamped/bugged?

100%. The deposit is a great screen, but in addition:

  • You’ll never get more than messages than the maximum you set
  • Messages are capped at 400 words, and
  • Your email is never made available (unless you choose). See our Full Privacy Policy for details

What if I've got a big idea but little money?

If you’re low on cash, you should explain your circumstances and ask for a refund in your message. We recognise in some cases the deposit will still be a barrier for some people, and OneLeap isn’t a perfect solution. But for most people a deposit is more accessible than alternative ways of making direct contact with some of the senior people on OneLeap.

If you really can’t afford the deposit, but know you can change the world if you can get in touch with someone on OneLeap, email us at pitchme@oneleap.com. Tell us who you are, who you want to reach and why. We’ll see what we can do. For any other enquiries contact us on help@oneleap.com or call us on +44 77 62 807443.
